I just want something to connect to my computer, put my playlist on, play the songs, and is portable. I have a tablet, so I don't need all the extra features of an iPod, but the tablet is definitely too big to snap to my sweatpants while I'm jogging or slug around and plug into my car stereo's aux outlet.
This does those all those things that I want well.
First off, this was purchased to replace a much older MP3 player that was about the same size but didn't have a clip and had some rather annoying navigational controls. I'd started plugging it into my car lately as opposed to just using the ear buds, and the old player wouldn't even let me program a playlist, so I was annoyed that I either had to fiddle with the thing while driving or listen to songs that I just didn't feel like listening to that day.
The RCA player has a clip, and I'm able to plug it into the car or use my ear buds. Connecting it to my computer and adding whatever I like is easy and painless. I can either use Windows Media Player or simply open a file folder and copy the files. The controls are easy, and I can set up a playlist.
The flip out USB is nice. My old player had a cap that you took off, and that cap would get lost.
I started to give the product four stars simply because it doesn't have the features of a high end player, but then I figured that it's best to rate it based on the features it's supposed to have just for this specific player. For a player that's going to run you around $30, it meets all my expectations, and I can't think of any real gripe to mention.
